Royal Family Documentary – Walking Down The Memory Lane

Back in the day, a Royal family documentary is as rare as it gets. Royal families possess that mystique and power that’s deemed to be impenetrable by the camera lenses. They belong to the highest classes of society thus; their everyday living really should not be something that the commoners within the monarchy could take a peek on. A commoner should only see and hear them speak at public events and social gatherings. But in no way see them throughout their leisure time and on moments when they remove their royal masks and try to live a normal life.

But in an uncommon occurrence in 1969, all took a major shift. The British Royal Family opened the Buckingham Palace’s doors for everyone to see. About two-thirds of the United Kingdom population had been glued to their seats as they marveled and indulged on the sight of their most respected royal family getting flashed on their Tv screens. Queen Elizabeth II gave a green light for the filming of the first ever royal Family Documentary fittingly named as the “Royal Family.”

The documentary’s sole purpose was to provide the British public an in-depth view of the family’s daily living and to project an image that the royal family goes about their daily lives just like the typical people do. While the public undoubtedly had been engrossed by the momentous show, a number of criticisms had been also directed to the documentary. Critics argue that the documentary tarnished the mystique and sacredness of the royal family as well as the monarchy as a whole by showing their royal members as ordinary individuals. One particular royal biographer even stated that the Queen regretted her approval of the historic documentary.

With numerous concerns bombarding it, the documentary was inevitably recalled from public viewing by the end of 1969 in an order released from the Buckingham Palace. In 2011, parts of the royal family documentary had been made available for the viewing public in celebration of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.

Albert: Prince Consort to Queen Victoria, social and cultural visionary in his own right, was born in the Saxon duchy of Saxe-Coburg-Saalfeld but defined the culture and direction of 19th century Britain – a superpower at the zenith of its influence – more than any other British royal or politician. Although he pleaded with his wife that no monument to his memory should be left (a plea that was to go unheeded by his grieving widow) the role he played in shaping Victorian culture stands today as indisputable proof of the enduring legacy of a man who spent just two decades of his short life in England. Though overshadowed in history by his adoring wife, and at times even mocked by her subjects, it was arguably Albert that gave form and substance to the Victorian Age. From the outset, he strove to win 'the respect, the love and the confidence of the Queen and of the nation', pursuing an extraordinary social and cultural crusade that has become his greatest legacy. From the Great Exhibition and the construction of many of London's great museums to his social campaigns against slavery and the Corn Laws, Albert's achievements were truly remarkable – in fact, very few have made such a permanent mark on British society. This is the life story of Albert of Saxe-Coburg: Prince Consort and beloved husband of Queen Victoria – and one of the most influential figures of modern Europe.

The success of Royal Albert by Royal Doulton founded in 1896 billows from its quintessentially English grace and elegance and its sense of timeless, romantic fantasy. These qualities are reflected through its delicate floral decoration, its feminine colors and its gentle flowing curves. Old Country Roses is the most successful tableware pattern in the world. If you want gilt edged luxury bone china, try Old Country Roses. It’s something that’s suited different lifestyles for decades past, and should do for decades to come. The haze of summertime…the sight of roses in full bloom…Harold Holdcroft captured it all in 1962 with Old Country Roses. That is why Royal Albert’s range of traditional tableware with its familiar Montrose shaping, rose motif and hand crafted gold edging is something special. For almost 200 years, The Royal Doulton Company has specialized in fine bone china and porcelain for the table and collectibles. Royal Doulton enjoys the distinction of a “Royal Warrant”, a designation bestowed upon people or companies who regularly supply members of the Royal Family with goods or services. It is regarded as a mark of supreme excellence and quality. King Edward awarded the first of five Royal Warrants to the Doulton Company, which then became The Royal Doulton Company.
